Oklahoma's oil patch jobs haven't bounced back from.. According to data collected by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 30,000 Oklahomans work in the oil field in drilling and extraction jobs. It's less than half of the number of employees during 2014 at the height of the western Oklahoma shale boom when oil was $100 a barrel. Oil-field service jobs have seen a similar dip.
